Nairobi Club Technology Operations
The wider technology environment I lead at Nairobi Club: infrastructure, cybersecurity, continuity, vendors, business systems and data protection. This is the operational work behind the software projects elsewhere on this site.
My part
- Lead day-to-day IT operations and priorities across infrastructure, networks, endpoints and applications.
- Coordinate cybersecurity and internal-audit remediation.
- Lead backup, recovery, business-continuity and connectivity work.
- Handle data-protection responsibilities as the designated DPO.
- Review technology vendors, contracts and SLAs and prepare management papers for major decisions.
- Lead ERP and business-system replacement work.
How I built it
- Microsoft 365, Windows Server and Active Directory
- Enterprise LAN, Wi-Fi and redundant internet connectivity
- Endpoint security, firewall and access-control systems
- Business applications across the Club's operating departments
Controls that mattered
- Access management and security policy work
- Backup and recovery planning
- Vulnerability and endpoint-security remediation
- Audit-action tracking
- Data-protection compliance work
Where it landed
- Moved more ICT work from reactive support into planned risk and service management.
- Made technology risks, remediation work and project decisions more visible to management.
- Created the operating environment in which the Club's newer internal applications can be supported.
